James R. Leichter
Majority Partner
James Leichter is the majority owner of RA Tax and Accounting. He grew up in Johnson County, Kansas and has owned several businesses throughout the years. James also serves as the President of Aptora Corporation – a leading software company that provides accounting and job costing software to the service and construction industry. James strongly believes in the importance of having a close personal relationship with key advisors such as an accounting and tax professional. On a personal note, James is a cat lover, recycling freak, and a computer nerd. He is married and has three adult children.

Michael Mahieu, CPA

Michael Mahieu, CPA has 8 years of experience in tax and financial statement preparation. He grew up in a farm town near Columbia, Missouri and graduated from MU with a Masters in Accountancy. He has experience with many different tax scenarios and provides taxpayers with representation, tax projections, offers-in-compromise, 1031 exchanges, business sales, and S corporation elections. His favorite parts of working in tax are the conversations and relationships he builds with clients and the donuts, we can’t forget the donuts and other treats they bring in! Michael practices a systematic budgetary process and has seen those who implement it will achieve financial success in their business and personal lives. Throughout life’s many challenges, Michael has leaned on the message of Christ to persevere. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, going to the movies, and traveling to different National Parks.
